Cars

Müller-BBM Industry Solutions GmbH's automotive acoustics division takes account of and develops virtually every noise: from the power accentuated noise of the drive and engine during acceleration, the buzzing of actuators, the clicking of the controls, the signal noises of the vehicle, right up to rolling and wind noise. Our tasks concerning vehicle acoustics is accordingly multi-faceted. We provide the vehicle with comfort that is specific to the product by designing sounds that convey the quality of the product, as well as giving operating signals back to the user, e.g. when operating the turn indicator.

Over recent years, the growing trend has been to position vehicles in their respective class and design an ensemble of sounds that aim to deliberately reinforce the character of the vehicle. Car manufacturers and suppliers use the new acoustic solutions and innovative methods to acquire prestige in an automotive market that sets ever-increasing standards.

Vehicle acoustics

The field of vehicle acoustics at Müller-BBM Industry Solutions GmbH – referred to in the automotive industry as NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) – is just as multi-faceted as the acoustic issues in the automotive industry itself. We are able to offer you a wide spectrum of services, starting with psychoacoustics and sound design, going on to analytical experiments into the origins and transmission of noise, using highly developed measurement methods and state-of-the-art measurement technology:

  • Experimental modal analysis (MOA)
  • Operational vibration analysis (OVA)
  • Operational transfer path analysis (OTPA)
  • Panel-Contribution-Analysis (PCA)
  • Rotary oscillation analysis
  • Array measurement technology
  • Intensity measurement technology
  • Numerical calculations using FE (finite elements), BEM and SEA
  • Analytic considerations

During experimental testing we use the PAK multi-channel measurement technique and analysis software of our sister company Müller-BBM VibroAkustik Systeme.

In our independent testing labs, we determine a wide range of material parameters, such as absorption coefficient, flow resistance, attenuation and coupling loss factor. With wall and window test benches, for example, we are able to determine the sound insulation of components. For the experimental analysis of noise sources, we have two anechoic rooms at our disposal. With our sound measurement room, we are able to determine the noise transmission from the air conditioning or steering system to the vehicle interior. Thanks to the vicinity to our clients and their infrastructure options, we also process many tasks directly on your test benches and test tracks.

Our aim is to support your development work as effectively as possible, answer your questions concerning acoustics and develop tailor-made solutions for you. Therefore, all work is carried out by Müller-BBM Industry Solutions GmbH staff, who bring along their extensive knowledge of acoustics. The advantage here is that our services do not end as soon as measurement data has been acquired, we also provide you with support during the analysis, creation and validation of measures. We are continually active in various projects, expanding and deepening our experience in all areas of vehicle acoustics.

Because our excellent networking of our acoustics specialists, one single contact is enough to provide you with the entire competence and experience of Müller-BBM and Müller-BBM VibroAkustik Systeme.

We provide regular seminars in vehicle acoustics for the continued professional training of your staff.
