Late bliss for Mozart in Salzburg 2006

On Saturday, June 17 a pre-inauguration concert was held at the "Haus für Mozart" in Salzburg, performed by the Camerata Salzburg directed by Maestro Peter Ruzicka.

Haus für Mozart

The "Haus für Mozart" was built in the festival area right in the middle of the old city center, on the site of the former "Kleines Festpielhaus". The new auditorium could only be slightly widened, it became much shorter and there was only room for expansion into the heights. These preconditions may seem impedimental at first sight, but they helped to present Mozart with his late bliss in Salzburg: a compact building with ideal dimensions that support the music and produce a transparent sound.

Compared with the former hall, reverberation time in the fully seated auditorium is now in the optimum range and provides a solid support for the notes as they travel through the room. This is accomodates not only the singers and musicians, but also the audience so that they can perceive the resonance of the room. The sound reflections achieved by the materials used and the acoustically structured surfaces are also very effective. They support the acoustic impression of spatiality and of being immersed in the music.

"The musicians and audiences will adore this room and its sound" - the international press was almost unanimous in its praise after the first concert.

On July 26, 2006 the Salzburger Festspiele will be opened in the "Haus für Mozart" with "Le nozze di Figaro".
