The Teatro di San Carlo is the oldest functioning opera house in Europe. It was founded in 1737 and has since been considered a neo-classical gem. Therefore, everyone involved in the project is very pleased that within only one and a half year of restoration and reconstruction the Teatro di San Carlo has recovered its beauty, and that the famous brilliance of its sound has not only been conserved, but could even be enhanced. The investment of 65 Million Euro and the improved acoustics will make sure that the Grand Dame of opera houses will once again shine brightly all across the Mediterranean area.
