By the help of innovative simulation technology (zonal orientated thermal simulations), Müller-BBM predicts room temperatures in summer , which allow to determine thermal comfort. This is how we create a reliable design and decision-making basis for the quantification and optimisation of essential building measures like:
- Size, position and number of windows (proportion of window area)
- Type of glazing (heat insulating glazing or sun protection glazing)
- Design ofshading system (external/internal, screen/blinds, colouring, etc.)
- Intensity of window ventilation rate (type, height, width, position and number of opening vents, etc.)
- Thermal storage masses
Facade simulation is used in addition to room simulation for complex, double-shell facade systems, for instance in double facades, or casement windows. This thermal simulation of the facade corridor (gap between the two shells) provides temperature data in particular. This is important since the heated air from the facade corridor can flow into the room via open windows and can cause a rise of temperature in rooms with window ventilation.
We predict the future energy consumption of a building during the design phase with the help of plant simulations. This simulation requires an room simulation that provides the load profile of the energy needed for the individual rooms of a building—the so-called usable energy. We determine the final energy on the basis of these results and, with that, the energy requirements for electricity, fuel oil or gas. To do this, we simulate the technical plant for ventilation, heating and cooling.
