German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)
The DGNB was founded in 2007 with the aim to promote and establish sustainable building in Germany. In order to develop comparable, generally accepted criteria, the subject was first analysed according to scientific criteria.
This initiative gave rise to an interdisciplinary certification system for sustainable building, which is the world's only system that includes all essential aspects of sustainability. It is divided into the following themes:
- environmental quality,
- economical quality,
- socio-cultural and functional quality,
- technical quality,
- process quality,
- site quality (listed separately).
Müller-BBM has been a member of the DGNB since 2008 and already actively participated in numerous professional committees during the system’s development phase. In early 2009, the first certificates for new office buildings could be awarded. The DGNB has appointed employees from Müller-BBM to take part in expert groups to continue the development of the system.
