With its location on the Tauberwiesen area, the building designed by Munich-based Henn Architekten GmbH not only is an attractive gateway to Weikersheim, which is well known for its academy of music and the Jeunesses Musicales, but it also contrasts in a very appealing way with the historical old town. The new building consists of two separate, diagonally combined structures and quite naturally blends in with its surroundings.

The concert hall with its finely tuned natural acoustics for classical music performances and concerts is located in the larger one of the two structures; it features a large orchestra podium and seats an audience of more than 600. Primarily, orchestra concerts as well as chamber music concerts will be staged in this hall. The smaller structure houses the Wittenstein hall for an audience of up to 200 as well as a light-flooded foyer and a café which opens towards the outdoor terrace and can be used separately from any events. This way, the new building very deliberately serves the entire region as a “house for everyone”, both as a concert hall and a municipal hall.

Müller-BBM created excellent room acoustics and a high level of sound insulation between the halls so that a simultaneous usage of both halls as well as various other types of usage are possible. The acousticians from Munich were involved in the project right from the start and also performed the final acoustic measurements; their professional planning – from the floor to the acoustically transparent expanded metal ceiling behind which sound-distributing ceiling elements are installed invisibly – ensures perfect acoustics in the halls as well as in the functional rooms without any disturbing ambient noise.

From now on, the TauberPhilharmonie will not only be the ideal venue for the Jeunesses Musicales but also for an artistic program with lieder recitals as well as performances of top orchestras, concerts for children, cabaret, pop concerts and a lot more.
