Emission measurements at combined heat and power stations of biogas plants

As measuring facility according to § 29b BImSchG we carry out emission measurements at combined heat and power plants for thermal/energetic utilization of biogas (subject to licencing according to BImSchG in conjunction among other with No. 1.2.2.2 of Appendix 1 of the 4th BImSchV). In this connection, gaseous emissions, normally carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx ), sulphur dioxide, and formaldehyde are measured. With these measurements the compliance with the emission limit values is checked, also with reference to the EEG funding (formaldehyde bonus).

The measuring task is always defined by the authorisation of the respective management authority. The measurements are carried out with a maximum capacity utilization of the plant. The measuring time of individual measurements is max. 30 minutes according to the TA Luft (Technical Guidelines on Air Quality Control). The necessary exhaust gas boundary parameters (exhaust gas temperature, humidity, static and dynamic pressure) are also determined. All measurements are carried out at special measuring points determined according to the guide line DIN EN 15259.

The measuring results are documented in extensive reports for the plant operator and for the regulatory authority. In these reports inter alia the plant, the substances handled, and  the sampling points are described. The measurement and analysis methods as well as the equipment applied are documented completely, and the operating conditions of the plant during the measurements are recorded. At the end of the reports, the measuring results and their discussion are compiled.
