Expert opinions in the fields of air pollution control and noise control for the re approval and extension of recycling plants

Since the beginning of 2018, the People’s Republic of China has refused to accept plastic waste from other countries including Germany. The reason for this are stricter environmental laws. In 2016, approx. 750,000 tons of plastic waste were exported from Germany to China.

In addition, the new packaging law will take effect on 1st January 2019 and will replace the current packaging ordinance. With this, the recycling rates for various packaging materials are to be increased gradually. Until now, the recycling rate for plastics amounts to 36 %. As of 2019, 58.5 percent, and as of 2022, even 63 percent of plastics are to be recycled.

Assuming that in general the amount of waste will further increase (in 2015, approx. 2.7 million tons of nearly 6 million tons of plastic waste were recycled and the rest was burned), there is no alternative to quickly putting more and larger recycling plants into operation and to massively expanding already existing capacities.

With many years of experience in waste management, Müller-BBM supports you in this matter. Depending on the respective situation and requirements, we provide expert opinions with immission and emission predictions in the fields of air pollution control including odours and noise as well as on the subjects of dust, noise and odours caused by traffic and handling.

Coordinated authority reports and an appropriate treatment of questions from operators and planners complement Müller-BBM’s spectrum of services and enable a result-oriented and prompt implementation of investment projects.

The approval management and authority engineering are part of the scope of services provided by Müller-BBM Projektmanagement GmbH.

In order to meet the requirements of the new situation, recycling capacities in Germany have to be expanded.
