Expert round table – exchange of experience and knowledge on immissions of bioaerosols

On 27 October 2015, about 40 participants and lecturers from Germany and Switzerland met in Planegg in order to exchange knowledge on the status of measured value recording, assessment, and reduction of bioaerosols. Volker Kummer (Hessisches Landesamt für Umwelt und Geologie) reported on the sessions of the VDI committees on standardization and on the latest approaches to assess the emissions and immissions of bioaerosols. Müller-BBM expert Christine Seuffert spoke on measurement planning and measurement technique; Prof. Dr. med. Caroline Herr (Bayerisches Landesamt für Gesundheit und Lebensmittelsicherheit) informed on the difficulties of deriving assessment criteria based on health standards. Subsequently, Dr. Michael Lohmeyer (Mikrobiologisches Labor) informed on "The analysis of endotoxoins". The meeting was rounded off by the paper of Walter Grotz (Managing Director of Müller-BBM GmbH) with the important question "How do the qualities of bioaerosols influence the results of propagation calculations". He also presented a suggestions for integrating bioaerosols in the precaution part of the TA Luft. With the final presentation "Emission reduction for livestock facilities" Dr. Jochen Hahne (Thünen-Institut für Agrartechnologie) presented the current status of exhaus purification for dusts, ammonia, odour, and bioaerosols.
