Extension of the recognition as an expert organisation (SVO) for facilities handling substances hazardous to water in accordance with § 52 AwSV

With the notification of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (BLfU) of 7th December 2021, the recognition of the expert organisation of Müller-BBM GmbH was extended in accordance with § 52 AwSV.

The recognition comprises the following fields of activity:

  • the inspection of facilities handling substances hazardous to water,  
  • the preparation of expert reports on water protection requirements and within the framework of the determination of suitability in accordance with AwSV and
  • the certification and monitoring of specialist companies.

The SVO is responsible for the training, examination, appointment and supervision of experts in accordance with § 53 AwSV.

Currently, ten experts, spread across the whole of Germany, have been examined and appointed by the expert organisation at Müller-BBM GmbH. Another three persons at the sites in Planegg, Berlin and Gelsenkirchen are scheduled for appointment.

A prerequisite for appointment is that the prospective experts are independent and reliable and can prove that they have a university or technical college degree, relevant expertise and at least 5 years of experience.

The recognition is valid until 31st December 2026. The Müller-BBM-AwSV-SVO is managed as an independent organisational unit of Müller-BBM GmbH (in accordance with section 52(7) AwSV) and has the objective of preparing experts for the inspection of facilities handling substances hazardous to water and ensuring their professional performance.

The appointed AwSV experts of Müller-BBM GmbH inspect and assess plants with reference to water law (WHG, AwSV): e.g. industrial plants, solvent and mineral oil storage facilities and biogas plants.
