More greenery to combat the heat – Urban Climate Analysis for Nidderau shows how it can be done!

How can a city respond to climate change? The answer is provided by the new urban climate analysis for Nidderau – a 200-page tool for future-oriented urban planning.

Together with Maintal and Schöneck, Nidderau has analysed heat stress in its districts, mapped cold air flows and investigated the effects on particularly vulnerable population groups. The results are clear:

  • Sealed surfaces increase heat stress
  • Green roofs, facades and trees provide noticeable cooling

What is particularly exciting: The analysis shows how microclimate and building development are linked – and where targeted measures are needed. The data flows directly into the city's climate adaptation plan.

Our analysis – with more than 100 measuring points and millions of data points – is a powerful example of data-driven urban development!
