Nitrogen dioxide measurements in Wuppertal

In order to be able to refer to spatially differentiated, up-to-date and reliable measurement data on air quality, in addition to the continuous measurements taken by LANUV NRW also municipal measurements of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are carried out in the urban area of Wuppertal by means of passive collectors at currently 30 measurement points distributed throughout the urban area. In parallel to these trace substance measurements, meteorological data are also recorded at one site. The measurements were carried out and evaluated by Müller-BBM GmbH from 2009 to 2019 and currently in 2021. Due to the long-term data basis, it could be documented that there was a considerable and overall continuous decrease in NO2 pollution.

The results are published after a quality check and after coordination with the city of Wuppertal by the project managers of Müller-BBM GmbH on www.no2-wuppertal.de. According to the measurement procedure the results of the NO2 passive samplers are updated monthly, the results of the meteorological measurements are updated daily. The website was extensively revised at the beginning of 2021, including a newly designed overview map and tables as well as graphics in a fresh design. In addition, the use has been optimised for mobile devices. Detailed background information, e.g. on the effects of nitrogen oxides, and an archive of measured values round off the offer.

At the beginning of 2021, the website NO2-Wuppertal.de was relaunched by Müller-BBM GmbH.
