Revised EU Ambient Air Quality Directive (AAQD) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 20.11.2024
In October 2022, the European Commission published a proposal for the revision of the EU directives on air quality. The proposal sets out new limit values for particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide, among other things, starting from 2030. The World Health Organization (WHO) has laid the foundation for this. Following the adoption of the adapted language versions by the European Parliament on 16.09. and the European Council on 14.10.2024, the Air Quality Directive was published in the European Official Journal on 20.11.2024 under the title “Directive (EU) 2024/2881 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2024 on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe (recast)”.
The new directive incorporates Directive 2004/107/EC and Directive 2008/50/EC as well as Directive (EU) 2015/1480.
On the basis of the new guideline, it is intended, among other things, to measure additional pollutants, to focus more on model calculations and to introduce so-called large measuring facilities.
The specialist divisions of Müller-BBM Industry Solutions are prepared for these changes. The national implementation of the EU Ambient Air Directive must take place in the next two years.
