Stakeholders shed light on the current state of practice and planned legislation in immission control
Müller-BBM Industry Solutions GmbH celebrated a small anniversary on 27th/28th November 2024. The 20th Müller-BBM expert discussions were enriched by the participation of more than 70 people from administration, industry and consultancy. Joachim Bittner opened the symposium in his capacity as managing director with the following statement, among other things: “In our experience, the jungle of regulations and standards is growing and the speed at which they are being changed is faster than ever.” He also addressed the necessary conversion of energy supply and the corresponding networks, as well as green hydrogen, to conclude with the words “And last but not least, areas must be protected from further sealing and cities and urban development must be rethought – cities of short distances, but also of the obvious potential for conflict”.
The intensive professional exchange on the current state of immission control in planning and authorisation practice has once again made it clear that there are numerous topics that will continue to pose major challenges for those involved in the future. These include the German Energy Act (EnWG), waste heat utilisation at data centres, the TA Luft and the IED Directive, as well as experience with AI at the licensing authorities. One of the issues raised by the speakers was that important legislative projects cannot currently be progressed due to the political situation.
As always, Joachim Bittner and Walter Grotz moderated the programme of the two-day event.
The 21st Müller-BBM expert discussions will take place on 19th/20th March 2025 in Munich. Registration for the event is already possible.
