How can the energy transition succeed? Discourse on the occasion of the Müller-BBM expert discussions in the field of tension of current developments
MDgtin Dr Monika Kratzer, Head of the Department of Technical Environmental Protection, Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management and Soil Protection at the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection, opened the two-day symposium on 23rd/24th March 2022 with a video greeting at the Haus der Bayerischen Wirtschaft. Participants from authorities, municipalities, plant operators and consultancies met for the 16th time for an intensive technical exchange on the current status of immission control in planning and approval practice with practice-related lectures on the occasion of the Müller-BBM expert discussions.
Dr. Monika Kratzer used her welcoming speech to point out to the participants that "qualified training is enormously important and creates the basis for reacting quickly to changes" and that "Müller-BBM always reacts to the changes of the times”. With reference to the specialist topic of noise and the current geopolitical situation she stated that "if politicians really want to establish new production in Germany in order to become more independent of the market, companies cannot be put under pressure by new conflict situations at the same time”.
This area of tension and possible solutions were examined in more detail by the Vice-President of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), Dr. Lilian Busse, in the opening lecture. In a very descriptive way, she dealt with the noise situation of the population in urban areas and presented the UBA concept for "The City of Tomorrow".
In the dialogue forum of the expert talks with twelve specialist lectures and diverse discussions, with the participation of Christian Alexander Mayer (Noerr Partnerschaftsgesellschaft mbB), Thorsten Otto (Müller-BBM GmbH), Dr Bernd Wust, LL.M. (Columbia) (Kapellmann und Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH), Michael Köhl (Müller-BBM GmbH), Markus Kihm (Lech Stahlwerke GmbH), Martin Schilha (Sappi Stockstadt GmbH), Michael Kortner (Müller-BBM GmbH), Thomas Heimbürge (Thüringer Landesamt für Umwelt, Bergbau und Naturschutz), Frank Müller (Müller-BBM GmbH), Dr. Olaf Treusch (Müller-BBM GmbH) and Dr. Georg Hünnekens (Baumeister Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft mbB) as well as Eva Maria Schmitz (Müller-BBM Projektmanagement GmbH), the participants spent two days learning about current issues in immission control and future changes.
The hosts of the conference and managing directors of Müller-BBM GmbH, Joachim Bittner and Walter Grotz, also announced that EUR 10,000 from the proceeds of the event will be donated to Ukraine Aid.
The next Müller-BBM expert talks will take place on 5/6 October 2022 in Berlin.
