Successful reaccreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 and renewed notification as an expert body according to Article 29b of the German Federal Immission Control Act

Müller-BBM GmbH has always placed high demands on the quality of its services independent from the respective field of expertise. Here, the accredited test and calibration laboratories of Müller-BBM GmbH become more and more important. After all, a large number of the altogether 430 employees are assigned to the accredited sector and contribute their knowledge there. To ensure the quality, Müller-BBM GmbH arranges for a regular monitoring and confirmation of the competence of its testing and calibration facilities by a neutral accreditation body.

In this respect, for the accredited testing laboratories of Müller-BBM GmbH the year 2019 was marked by the reaccreditation by DAkkS, Germany’s national accreditation body. On 72 audit days over the period from March to September 2019, the company’s sites in Berlin, Dresden, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Karlsruhe (for the first time), Kerpen, Linsengericht, Planegg, Reutlingen, Stuttgart, Weimar and Zirndorf were successfully examined according to the revised standard ISO/IEC 17025:2018, which had been previously introduced in the Müller-BBM’s quality management system.

The extensive competences of the individual testing fields of Müller-BBM GmbH are documented in the accreditation certificates received from DAkkS in December for the testing laboratory for sound and vibration, electromagnetic fields and light, for air pollution control and hazardous substances as well as the acoustic testing laboratory.

On this basis, the notification according to section 29b of the Federal Pollution Control Act (BImSchG) in combination with the Ordinance on Notification (41st BImSchV) for the respective testing areas in the mandatory area was made by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU).

The scope of accreditation of the testing laboratories was adjusted to the current requirements and extended in some of the testing fields. For example, in the field of expert opinions on environmental meteorology propagation calculations both according to the Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA Luft) and according to 39th BImSchV as well as the selection, processing and testing of meteorological data are now part of the accreditation.
