TA Luft with stricter limits on pollutant emissions from industrial plants adopted

On 23rd June 2021, the Federal Cabinet adopted the revised Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA Luft). With the approval of the Federal Council, the new version of the TA Luft can come into force in autumn 2021.

The previously valid TA Luft from 2002 was adapted to the advanced state of the art and continues to serve as the central set of regulations for reducing emissions and immissions of air pollutants from installations requiring a permit.

Significant changes include, among other things, the integration of BAT conclusions for a number of types of installations, the tightening of a large number of emission limitations for technical installations, various methodological changes in permit procedures, the inclusion of the Odour Immission Directive, the inclusion of requirements under nature conservation law on nitrogen and acid discharges into sites of Community importance, the adaptation of the requirements for particularly harmful substances (CMR substances) and the implementation of a large number of European legal requirements on emissions and immissions and on the state of the art.

It can be assumed that a number of requirements must already be taken into account in the approval procedures currently underway.

Plant operators are supported in the planning and operation of their plants by the experts, consultants and measurement engineers of Müller-BBM GmbH. The primary goal is to provide legally secure proof of the approvability of entrusted projects and metrological monitoring of operations in order to fulfil the immission control criteria.

At twelve locations throughout Germany Müller-BBM GmbH has competent contact persons for immission control questions regarding measurement, monitoring and forecasting.
